C&T Enterprises, Inc., will receive letters of interest for an entry-level Junior Accountant position at Claverack Rural Electric Cooperative (REC).

Location: This position will be based at the Claverack REC headquarters in Wysox, PA.

Reporting Structure: This position will report to the Chief Financial Officer at Claverack REC.

Primary Function: This role's primary responsibility is to oversee daily financial and accounting functions, prepare financial reports, and provide support for accounts payable and accounts receivable. In addition, this position will include responsibilities and financial activities related to Claverack Communications, the cooperative's subsidiary.

Qualifications and Skills:

To be successful in this role, the candidate should possess the following qualifications and skills:

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting or a relevant field
     
  • Familiarity with general accounting principles and procedures, as well as spreadsheet and database software
     
  • Three years of accounting experience (preferred)
     
  • Basic computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite software
     
  • Demonstrated organizational skills, attention to detail and accuracy, and proficiency with numerical data
     
  • Effective analytical, research, and problem-solving skills

Responsibilities:

As the Junior Accountant, the candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Recording and summarizing financial transactions
     
  • Balance sheet reconciliation
     
  • Preparing financial statements and other financial reports
     
  • Assisting with month-end closure processes and procedures
     
  • Preparing and filing tax returns
     
  • Supporting the billing processes by maintaining accurate records and timely invoicing
     
  • Providing backup to accounts payable and accounts receivable
     
  • Assisting with independent and regulatory audits
     
  • Understanding and complying with cooperative policies, procedures, principles, programs, and safety rules
     
  • Participating in educational training, technical training, and safety meetings to stay abreast of best practices, developments in job-related areas, and the cooperative/telecom business environments
     
  • Performing other duties as assigned, including special projects

 

  • Communicating and coordinating with all members of the finance department and other employees of the cooperative and its subsidiary
     
  • Communicating with members, vendors, business partners, financial institutions, audit teams, professional organizations, and the cooperative’s partner companies
     
  • Performing other related work as assigned

Special Working Conditions:

Occasional overnight and daytime travel is required.

Reporting Structure: This position will report to the co-Presidents & CEOs of C&T.

Qualifications and Skills:

To be successful in this role, the candidate should possess the following qualifications and skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Systems, Computer Science, System Analysis, Industrial Engineering, Information Management, Business Administration, or a closely related discipline.
    • A Master’s degree is preferred.
       
  • Minimum of eight years of progressive development experience in responsible roles, including at least five years of direct experience overseeing the information, computer, and communications systems of an organization.
    • Experience in the electrical utility industry is preferred.
    • Strong preference for candidates with significant managerial and supervisory experience, as well as firsthand knowledge of Information Management technologies and applications.
       
  • Knowledge of business theory, business process development, governance processes, management, budgeting, project management, management controls and administrative operations. 
     
  • Strong knowledge of electrical utility technologies and their applied use.
     
  • Ability to effectively lead, direct and manage all IT technical staff.
     
  • Ability to quickly learn and assimilate various technological methodologies. 
     
  • Effective analytical problem solving and research skills required. 
     
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills with the ability to express technical information clearly and simply while working closely with other personnel. 
     
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with colleagues, contractors, inspectors, vendors, and consultants.

Responsibilities:

As the Director of Information Technology, the candidate's responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the IT Department in operational and strategic planning, network and server operations, implementing cyber security initiatives, planning projects, and organizing and negotiating the allocation of resources across C&T companies.
     
  • Managing IT staffing including recruitment, supervision, scheduling, development, evaluation and disciplinary actions.
     
  • Working with management/staff to define business and system requirements for new technology implementations.
     
  • Benchmarking, analyzing, reporting and making recommendations for the improvement and growth of the IT infrastructure and IT systems.
     
  • Managing the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, upgrade and support of all IT systems and infrastructure.
     
  • Overseeing provision of end user services, including help desk and technical support services.
     
  • Keeping current with the latest technologies.
  • Managing financial aspects of the IT Department, including purchasing, budgeting and budget review.
  • Developing business case justifications and cost/benefit analyses for IT spending and initiatives.
  • Negotiating and overseeing projects across C&T companies.
  • Developing and implementing all IT policies and procedures.
  • Developing requests for proposals.
  • Negotiating and administering vendor and consultant contracts and service agreements.
     
  • Establishing and maintaining regular written and in-person communications with the organization’s executives, department heads and end users regarding pertinent IT activities.
  • Ensuring adherence to government or other regulatory requirements for technological systems and safeguarding data.
  • Communicating technology needs and strategies to members of the C&T executive team.
  • Preparing monthly department reports and special reports for the Board of Directors and/or President and CEO.
     
  • Communicating and coordinating with all employees to receive or give pertinent information that results in the company's safe, efficient, and reliable operation.
     
  • Independently collaborating with third-party vendors, including but not limited to colleagues, customers, contractors, inspectors, internet service providers, hardware/software vendors, network consultants, and regulatory agencies

Special Working Conditions:

This position works frequently under pressure and stress due to the continually changing nature of technology, staff, and system demands. Occasionally certain conditions occur which will demand unusual working hours as well as occasional travel outside the system. Position requires individual to be available after hours to assist with emergencies as necessary.

  • Applies problem-solving skills to identify and utilize basic troubleshooting techniques to promptly resolve issues, demonstrating the ability to balance multiple duties and priorities.
     
  • Utilizes excellent communication skills to effectively interact with colleagues, contractors, utility inspectors, vendors, and consultants.

Responsibilities:

As the System Engineer (Electric Distribution) Level I & Level II, the candidate's responsibilities will involve both office and field work involvement and include:

  • Collaborate with internal departments and external engineering firms to create short-term and long-range plans for enhancing the electric distribution facility improvement plan.
     
  • Perform system coordination studies and provide protective device settings for fault-isolating equipment within the distribution system.
     
  • Research and devise strategies to leverage the fiber infrastructure to create a more robust electric distribution system, including distribution automation.
     
  • Assist in the planning, designing, and mapping of new fiber infrastructure in conjunction with the electric system.
     
  • Develop predictive maintenance programs utilizing advanced technologies such as drones, various software, and SCADA systems.
     
  • Develop preventive maintenance routines and schedules for electrical equipment distribution, following industry best practices, NETA recommendations, and manufacturers’ O&M manuals.
     
  • Assume the role of project manager for large-scale Distribution and Transmission projects.
     
  • Review, modify, and interconnect all Alternative Energy Systems interconnected to Tri-County REC’s distribution system.
     
  • Provide support for the Cooperative's two-way metering AMI system(s), including load management. Implement initiatives to maximize their capabilities and develop report analysis.
     
  • Perform other related work as assigned.
