Location: The position will be located at Claverack REC’s Montrose District in Montrose, PA.

Reporting Structure: The position will report to the Manager of Field Operations/Crew Chief at Claverack REC.

Primary Responsibilities: To work under the direction of a Crew Chief and/or Journeyman Line Technician to safely perform maintenance, operation, and construction tasks on the Cooperative’s distribution systems and equipment, in full compliance with established safety procedures, codes, company policies, and objectives. Recommend improvements to job processes, materials, and supplies. Maintain positive employee relations and foster goodwill between the Cooperative and its members.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Gain knowledge of all Cooperative Safety Rules, Rural Utilities Service (RUS) construction specifications, and OSHA standards.
  • Build proficiency in pole climbing and related tasks under close supervision on de-energized lines.
  • Learn proper fitting and use of climbing gear and personal protective equipment.
  • Participate in tailboard safety meetings and monthly safety meetings as required.
  • Learn proper operation and maintenance of trucks, hydraulic equipment, buckets, diggers, and power and hand tools.
  • Assist with the installation and maintenance of substation equipment under supervision.
  • Become familiar with the Cooperative’s distribution system and learn to read and interpret system maps.

Special Working Conditions:

  • During the first year of employment as a First-Year Apprentice, and in conjunction with on-the-job training, the employee will be enrolled in a documented Apprentice Training Program. This program consists of four modules, completed at a rate of one per apprenticeship level. As a First-Year Apprentice, you must complete Module 1 before advancing to Second-Year Apprentice status. Module 1 must be completed within one year.
  • Maintain a valid commercial driver’s license (CDL).
  • Maintain current CPR and First Aid certifications.
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions, including nights and weekends, during outages or emergencies.
  • Availability for scheduled after-hours work.
  • Willingness to work overtime during storm-related events, including dispatching or assisting field crews.

  • 1 year of customer service experience
  • Problem-solving skills: Ability to handle, identify, and resolve problems promptly, gather and analyze information, generate creative solutions, and demonstrate attention to detail
  • Technical skills: Proficiency with basic office computer and software applications (i.e., Microsoft Word and Excel)

Responsibilities:

As the Full-Time Call Center Operator, the candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Answering all incoming calls
  • Responding to caller's inquiries regarding billing or service concerns
  • Taking messages, entering service orders, and typing dispatch logs for each company
  • Dispatching and informing of outage or trouble calls to the appropriate service crew(s)
  • Ensuring all calls are transferred to the Call Center or respective offices when necessary
  • Handling outbound and inbound fiber sales calls, Collection calls, and Paperwork Calls for companies
  • Communicating with internal and external parties to include call center colleagues, field crews, company office personnel, and members/customers
  • Training new employees
  • Processing month-end duties/reports
  • Maintaining and updating procedure books and phone directories to ensure accuracy and to reflect new procedures
  • Reading and correcting all logs each night – this includes verifying information on Emergency forms and checking OMS
  • Calling Call Center Management when extra help is needed to run the office efficiently during high call volume or anytime you can’t keep up with dispatching and/or documentation
  • Ordering office supplies, restocking the bathroom, kitchen, and call center supplies weekly
  • Sanitizing stations daily after each shift and regularly cleaning common areas to maintain hygiene standards
  • Performing other duties assigned to meet the organization's needs and proper management practices

Special Working Conditions:

This position requires flexibility, including first, second, and third shifts, as well as holidays, weekends, and irregular hours for meetings, training, or coverage during outages and shift changes. Typical hours are 3:30 p.m. to 12:00 a.m., Sunday through Thursday, and Tuesday through Saturday. The work schedule is subject to change.

Primary Function: The primary responsibilities of this role include serving as the first responder for investigating odor complaints, emergencies, and damages. Additional duties involve performing meter changes and readings and investigating high bill complaints. The role also includes conducting leak repairs, changing pressure charts, and assisting with various operational activities as needed.

Qualifications and Skills:

To be successful in this role, the candidate should possess the following qualifications and skills:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
    • Must become qualified in accordance with the Company’s Operator Qualification Program
  • One year or equivalent training in gas operations and pipe fitting 
  • Must possess a working knowledge of the fundamentals of natural gas and gas operations, including regulations and standards set by the Public Service Commission (PSC), Public Utilities Commission (PUC), Office of Pipeline Safety (OPS), and the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA)
  • Familiarity with company procedures related to leak investigation, pipe fitting, and gas heating equipment, as well as identifying and addressing irregular conditions

  • Installs, services, maintenance, and repairs of all types of company gas piping and equipment
  • Removing, installing, and maintaining meters, meter reading devices and meter installations, including painting program
  • Investigating and classifying odor and carbon monoxide complaints
  • Investigating high bill complaints
  • Managing the initiation and termination of customer service connections
  • Conducting field work for collection activities

Special Working Conditions:

The candidate must be available for after-hours rotating call duty schedules to perform service work and respond to emergencies. Residency within or in close proximity to the company's service area is required. The role occasionally involves working in inclement weather. Responsibilities:

As the System Engineer (Electric Distribution) Level I & Level II, the candidate's responsibilities will involve both office and field work involvement and include:

  • Collaborate with internal departments and external engineering firms to create short-term and long-range plans for enhancing the electric distribution facility improvement plan.
     
  • Perform system coordination studies and provide protective device settings for fault-isolating equipment within the distribution system.
     
  • Research and devise strategies to leverage the fiber infrastructure to create a more robust electric distribution system, including distribution automation.
     
  • Assist in the planning, designing, and mapping of new fiber infrastructure in conjunction with the electric system.
     
  • Develop predictive maintenance programs utilizing advanced technologies such as drones, various software, and SCADA systems.
     
  • Develop preventive maintenance routines and schedules for electrical equipment distribution, following industry best practices, NETA recommendations, and manufacturers’ O&M manuals.
     
  • Assume the role of project manager for large-scale Distribution and Transmission projects.
     
  • Review, modify, and interconnect all Alternative Energy Systems interconnected to Tri-County REC’s distribution system.
     
  • Provide support for the Cooperative's two-way metering AMI system(s), including load management. Implement initiatives to maximize their capabilities and develop report analysis.

Qualifications and Skills:

To be successful in this role, the candidate should possess the following qualifications and skills:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 1 year of customer service experience
  • Problem-solving skills: Ability to identify and resolve problems promptly, gather and analyze information, generate creative solutions, and demonstrate attention to detail
  • Technical skills: Proficiency with basic office computer and software applications (i.e., Microsoft Word and Excel)
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills: Ability to write clearly and informatively, adapt writing style to meet different audiences, and effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ethics: Demonstrates respect for a diverse workforce and internal/external constituents, keeps commitments, accepts responsibility for actions, inspires trust, works with integrity, and upholds organizational values
  • Confidentiality: Maintains discretion and confidentiality in dealing with sensitive and personal matters related to the function
  • Sales knowledge (preferred)
  • Familiarity with IVUE/OMS or other call center-related software programs (preferred)
  • Experience operating a two-way radio (preferred)

Responsibilities:

As the Part-Time Call Center Operator, the candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Answering all incoming calls
  • Responding to caller's inquiries regarding billing or service concerns
  • Taking messages, entering service orders, and typing dispatch logs for each company
  • Dispatching and informing of outage or trouble calls to the appropriate service crew(s)
  • Ensuring all calls are transferred to the Call Center or respective offices when necessary
  • Handling outbound and inbound fiber sales calls, Collection calls, and Paperwork Calls for companies
  • Assisting Call Center Management and other departments with any jobs that they need help with
  • Reading the procedure books monthly to stay abreast of new procedures
  • Performing other duties assigned to meet the organization's needs and proper management practices

Special Working Conditions:

Ability to work any time of the day or night. May be required to be on call. Work schedule subject to change.
