C&T Enterprises, Inc. provides management support services to electric and natural gas utilities and its telecom subsidiaries. C&T is currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team as the Network Systems Specialist I.

Location: This position can be located at any C&T operating footprint office, including Mansfield, Lewisburg, Wellsboro, Wysox, or Sayre, Pennsylvania.

Reporting Structure: This position will report to the C&T Director of Information Technology.

Qualifications and Skills:

To be successful in this role, the candidate should possess the following qualifications and skills:

  • This position requires a bachelor’s degree in computer information systems or technology or three years of progressively responsible, directly related experience.
     
  • A minimum of five years of background in computer information systems is required.
     
  • Fundamental knowledge of networking concepts is required.
     
  • Hands-on experience in technical troubleshooting capabilities.
     
  • Proven network operations and performance analysis skills.
     
  • Familiarity with server management and monitoring tools.
     
  • Knowledge of computing infrastructures and end devices.

Responsibilities:

As the Network Systems Specialist I, the candidate's responsibilities will include:

  • Managing and providing high-level, complex support for the Company's entire network infrastructure.
     
  • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge applicable to the current information technology environment.
     
  • Ensuring that the performance and availability of the network infrastructure are maintained to the highest standard with maximum productivity and efficiency.
     
  • Assessing risks, implementing security measures, and changing the company's culture through training and education.
     
  • Designing, implementing, upgrading, maintaining, and analyzing all network and security systems.
  • Implementing, upgrading, and maintaining all peripheral devices, PCs, workstations, notebooks, printers, servers, LANs, WANs, VPNs, wireless, switches, routers, firewalls, and the entire company information system infrastructure.
     
  • Monitoring all network and security appliances, network/system performance, and other significant infrastructure indicators, and reporting identified problems or concerns.
     
  • Participating in developing and maintaining comprehensive documentation of network configurations, procedures, and standards.
     
  • Documenting all hardware/software inventory and service records relating to networks, hardware, and software.
     
  • Utilizing tools to monitor network flow, troubleshoot, make recommendations, and implement network modifications to improve the efficiency and security of network traffic.
     
  • Planning and implementing future technology to increase productivity, service, reliability, and reduce costs.
     
  • Developing and implementing training for company staff to include written guidelines and instructions as needed.
     
  • Researching and recommending service, software, and technology changes in facilities.
     
  • Overseeing the configuration and installation of all necessary telecommunication and radio devices.
     
  • Coordinating and performing programming of various network infrastructure systems.

  • Work with the IT team to provide end-user support, including troubleshooting hardware and software issues, performing necessary upgrades and repairs, and installing or configuring software applications.

Special Working Conditions:

This position requires availability after hours to assist with emergencies, as necessary. Responsibilities include providing support and assistance according to the "Emergency Plan." The role involves attending classes, seminars, and conferences and reviewing professional literature to stay updated on trends and developments related to job functions. Occasional overnight travel for training or meetings is required.

The candidate may need to move boxes or equipment, sometimes exceeding fifty pounds. Strong communication and interpersonal skills and working effectively in a collaborative team environment are essential. The role also requires completing off-site assignments that involve walking, driving, and installing computer equipment. Good vision, hearing, manual dexterity, and verbal skills are necessary.

· 1 year of customer service experience

· Problem-solving skills: Ability to handle, identify, and resolve problems promptly, gather and analyze information, generate creative solutions, and demonstrate attention to detail

· Technical skills: Proficiency with basic office computer and software applications (i.e., Microsoft Word and Excel)

Responsibilities:

As the Full-Time Call Center Operator, the candidate will be responsible for the following:

· Answering all incoming calls

· Responding to caller's inquiries regarding billing or service concerns

· Taking messages, entering service orders, and typing dispatch logs for each company

· Dispatching and informing of outage or trouble calls to the appropriate service crew(s)

· Ensuring all calls are transferred to the Call Center or respective offices when necessary

· Handling outbound and inbound fiber sales calls, Collection calls, and Paperwork Calls for companies

· Communicating with internal and external parties to include call center colleagues, field crews, company office personnel, and members/customers

· Training new employees

· Processing month-end duties/reports

· Maintaining and updating procedure books and phone directories to ensure accuracy and to reflect new procedures

· Reading and correcting all logs each night – this includes verifying information on Emergency forms and checking OMS

· Calling Call Center Management when extra help is needed to run the office efficiently during high call volume or anytime you can’t keep up with dispatching and/or documentation

· Ordering office supplies, restocking the bathroom, kitchen, and call center supplies weekly

· Sanitizing stations daily after each shift and regularly cleaning common areas to maintain hygiene standards

· Performing other duties assigned to meet the organization's needs and proper management practices

Special Working Conditions:

This position requires flexibility, including first, second, and third shifts, as well as holidays, weekends, and irregular hours for meetings, training, or coverage during outages and shift changes. Typical hours are Sunday-Monday from 12:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m., and Tuesday-Thursday from 3:30 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. The work schedule is subject to change.

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
     
  • Minimum of five years of hands-on experience in fiber splicing, specifically with loose tube fiber
     
  • Strong background in fiber identification, reading splice diagrams, and interpreting as-built fiber maps, as well as experience in splicing high-count fiber optic cables
     
  • Applies problem-solving skills to identify and utilize basic troubleshooting techniques to promptly prevent or resolve issues, demonstrating the ability to balance multiple duties and priorities
     
  • Utilizes excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively and professionally interact with colleagues, customers, contractors, inspectors, vendors, and consultants

  • Performing fiber cleaning, testing, and troubleshooting
     
  • Carrying out fiber drop installation

Responsibilities:

As the System Engineer (Electric Distribution) Level I & Level II, the candidate's responsibilities will involve both office and field work involvement and include:

  • Collaborate with internal departments and external engineering firms to create short-term and long-range plans for enhancing the electric distribution facility improvement plan.
     
  • Perform system coordination studies and provide protective device settings for fault-isolating equipment within the distribution system.
     
  • Research and devise strategies to leverage the fiber infrastructure to create a more robust electric distribution system, including distribution automation.
     
  • Assist in the planning, designing, and mapping of new fiber infrastructure in conjunction with the electric system.
     
  • Develop predictive maintenance programs utilizing advanced technologies such as drones, various software, and SCADA systems.
     
  • Develop preventive maintenance routines and schedules for electrical equipment distribution, following industry best practices, NETA recommendations, and manufacturers’ O&M manuals.
     
  • Assume the role of project manager for large-scale Distribution and Transmission projects.
     
  • Review, modify, and interconnect all Alternative Energy Systems interconnected to Tri-County REC’s distribution system.
     
  • Provide support for the Cooperative's two-way metering AMI system(s), including load management. Implement initiatives to maximize their capabilities and develop report analysis.
     
  • Perform other related work as assigned.
