C&T Enterprises, Inc. will receive letters of interest for the position of First-Year Apprentice at Claverack Rural Electric Cooperative (REC) – Tunkhannock District.

Location: The position will be located at Claverack REC’s Tunkhannock District in Tunkhannock, PA.

Reporting Structure: The position will report to the Manager of Field Operations at Claverack REC.

Primary Responsibilities: To work under the direction of a Crew Chief and/or Journeyman Line Technician to safely perform maintenance, operation, and construction tasks on the Cooperative’s distribution systems and equipment, in full compliance with established safety procedures, codes, company policies, and objectives. Recommend improvements to job processes, materials, and supplies. Maintain positive employee relations and foster goodwill between the Cooperative and its members.

Qualifications and Skills:

To be successful in this role, the candidate should have the following qualifications and skills:

• High school diploma or G.E.D.
   
• One to two years of related experience is preferred.
   
• General knowledge of line construction, materials, devices, and machinery.
   
• Basic understanding of the electrical system, including substations and related equipment.
   
• Working knowledge of electrical principles applied to line work on de-energized distribution systems under direct supervision.
   
• Strong commitment to safety, with comprehensive knowledge of and adherence to the Cooperative’s Safety Rules and OSHA standards.
   
• Must have the mental capabilities, muscular coordination, and stamina to safely perform all phases of the job under all weather conditions.
   
• Demonstrate personal skills and behaviors that promote effective teamwork, efficient work processes, and the ability to complete assigned tasks thoroughly.

General Responsibilities:

As the First-Year Apprentice, the candidate's responsibilities will include:

• Perform groundwork related to maintenance, operation, and construction in a safe and skillful manner under close supervision, following the Cooperative’s Safe Work Practices.
   
• Develop a basic understanding of electricity and its principles.
   
• Gain knowledge of all Cooperative Safety Rules, Rural Utilities Service (RUS) construction specifications, and OSHA standards.
   
• Build proficiency in pole climbing and related tasks under close supervision on de-energized lines.
   
• Learn proper fitting and use of climbing gear and personal protective equipment.
   
• Participate in tailboard safety meetings and monthly safety meetings as required.
   
• Learn proper operation and maintenance of trucks, hydraulic equipment, buckets, diggers, and power and hand tools.
   
• Assist with the installation and maintenance of substation equipment under supervision.
   
• Become familiar with the Cooperative’s distribution system and learn to read and interpret system maps.
   
• Work with Journeymen to restore system outages during and after normal work hours under close supervision.
   
• Maintain clean and orderly work areas and garage.
   
• Read meters and perform service disconnects and reconnects as requested.
   
• Communicates and coordinates with all employees to receive or give information that is pertinent to and will result in safe, efficient and reliable operation of the Cooperative.

• Performing other related work as assigned.

Special Working Conditions:

• During the first year of employment as a First-Year Apprentice, and in conjunction with on-the-job training, the employee will be enrolled in a documented Apprentice Training Program. This program consists of four modules, completed at a rate of one per apprenticeship level. As a First-Year Apprentice, you must complete Module 1 before advancing to Second-Year Apprentice status. Module 1 must be completed within one year.
   
• Maintain a valid commercial driver’s license (CDL).
   
• Maintain current CPR and First Aid certifications.
   
• Ability to work in all weather conditions, including nights and weekends, during outages or emergencies.
   
• Availability for scheduled after-hours work.
   
• Willingness to work overtime during storm-related events, including dispatching or assisting field crews.
   
• Occasional overnight travel.

• The ideal candidate must be capable of performing the essential functions of the role, which may include walking long distances over varied terrain such as rights-of-way. Additional requirements include sufficient visual and auditory acuity, clear verbal communication, the ability to sit or stand for extended periods, and the manual dexterity necessary for detailed tasks.

Location: This position will be located at the Claverack Rural Electric Cooperative headquarters in Wysox, PA.

Reporting Structure: The role reports to the Director of Broadband Operations for Claverack Communications, LLC, the parent company of Revolution Broadband, a subsidiary of Claverack Rural Electric Cooperative.

Primary Function: This position is responsible for promoting and selling fiber-to-the-home and broadband products and services, primarily within the Revolution Broadband service territory. The role involves direct interaction with both existing and prospective subscribers through face-to-face meetings, phone calls, and email communication. Key duties include generating new accounts, educating subscribers on available services and pricing plans, and assisting with the purchasing process.

Qualifications and Skills:

To be successful in this role, the candidate should possess the following qualifications and skills:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Experience or degree in a technology-related field is preferred
• Experience in direct sales and customer service
• Familiarity with broadband systems and related equipment and services is preferred
• Technical skills: Proficiency with basic office computer and software applications (e.g., Microsoft 365) and the ability to demonstrate computer literacy and strong reading comprehension
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills in-person and via telephone
• Motivated self-starter with excellent organizational and time management skills
• Ability to work independently and balance multiple duties and priorities simultaneously

Responsibilities:

As the Part-time Broadband Sales Representative, the candidate will be responsible for the following:

• Promoting and selling Revolution fiber-to-the-home and broadband internet services within the designated service territory
• Engaging with prospective subscribers via phone, email, and in-person to educate them about the cooperative’s broadband offerings and solutions
• Delivering exceptional member service and fostering strong member relations
• Representing the Cooperative and Subsidiary positively through active participation in community events and local initiatives
• Collaborating with communications and marketing to update campaigns as needed
• Traveling as required, with a valid driver’s license in good standing
• Working collaboratively with the entire cooperative team to consistently meet or exceed member expectations
• Working collaboratively with external parties such as vendors, consultants, associations, and organizations
• Performing other duties as needed to support the goals of Claverack Communications and Claverack Rural Electric Cooperative
   

Special Working Conditions:

• This position requires independent travel to various locations both within and outside the Cooperative’s service territory, including site visits and public interactions.
• Time is divided between working indoors in a typical business environment and traveling throughout the service area.
• A flexible schedule is required, including availability for nights and weekends.

• A bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, electrical technology, or mechanical engineering, along with relevant industry knowledge.
   
• Recent engineering graduates with a related 4-year degree and a strong desire to learn the electric distribution cooperative business are encouraged to apply.
   
• Applies problem-solving skills to identify and utilize basic troubleshooting techniques to promptly resolve issues, demonstrating the ability to balance multiple duties and priorities.

Responsibilities:

As the System Engineer (Electric Distribution) Level I & Level II, the candidate's responsibilities will involve both office and field work involvement and include:

• Collaborate with internal departments and external engineering firms to create short-term and long-range plans for enhancing the electric distribution facility improvement plan.
   
• Perform system coordination studies and provide protective device settings for fault-isolating equipment within the distribution system.
   
• Research and devise strategies to leverage the fiber infrastructure to create a more robust electric distribution system, including distribution automation.
   
• Assist in the planning, designing, and mapping of new fiber infrastructure in conjunction with the electric system.
   
• Develop predictive maintenance programs utilizing advanced technologies such as drones, various software, and SCADA systems.
   
• Develop preventive maintenance routines and schedules for electrical equipment distribution, following industry best practices, NETA recommendations, and manufacturers’ O&M manuals.
   
• Assume the role of project manager for large-scale Distribution and Transmission projects.
   
• Review, modify, and interconnect all Alternative Energy Systems interconnected to Tri-County REC’s distribution system.
   
• Provide support for the Cooperative's two-way metering AMI system(s), including load management. Implement initiatives to maximize their capabilities and develop report analysis.
   
• Perform other related work as assigned.
